Key Responsibilities

1. Assessment and Evaluation: Special educators assess students strengths and challenges to develop individualized education plans (IEPs).

2. Instructional Support: They provide direct instruction, accommodations and modifications to help students access the curriculum.

3. Collaboration: Special educators work with general education teachers to develop inclusive lesson plans and provide support in the classroom.

4. Behavioral Support: They help students develop social, emotional and behavioral skills and provide strategies for managing challenging behaviors.

5. Family Support: Special educators communicate with families, provide progress updates and offer guidance on supporting their childs learning.
